How Jaker’s came to be

While attending the University of Idaho, Jake Jones got a job hashing (serving food) at the Gamma Phi Beta sorority house. He was terminated by the house mother for dropping a jam knife down her dress, not on purpose. But, taking pity on him, she decided to use him in the kitchen as the cook’s assistant. As it turns out, he got to work with the best cook on campus. Upon graduation he decided to stay in the food business.

Jake managed several college food services and then worked for a regional buffet chain.

In 1975 Jake opened his first restaurant. The latest restaurant opened in Meridian in 2007 and the next will be in Elko, Nevada.

Native to the west and locally grown, our premium boneless Rainbow Trout fillets are sure to satisfy. Our Rainbow trout is grown in pure, crystal clear spring water by Clear Springs Trout Company located in the scenic Snake River Canyon.

Along with side selections for entrees we offer our Idaho Russet Burbank Baked Potatoes. These famous Idaho Potatoes are baked every 30 minutes to ensure ultimate freshness and quality. Those potatoes that aren’t used go into our very popular Baked Potato Soup.

For a real treat Jaker’s serves fresh hot scones along with honey butter.

For a great finish or an accompaniment to your meal we offer fresh roasted and freshly brewed Starbucks coffee.
